The Teenage Entrepreneur with Michael Brodie
A real inspiration, Michael Brodie shares with us the journey and ambitions of a young entrepreneur. Having not taken the traditional education route of college or university, he shares with us how sheer ambition and determination has taken him on a magical journey of success.
Age 24, lives between the UK and Philippines. Born in Newcastle.
Always entrepreneurial – at 13 he was buying confection from a wholesale supplier and selling them on! He had 2 kids selling for him on a 20% commission. This was instinctive, nobody ever taught him how to do this.
Left school at 16 and became the youngest retail store owner in the whole of the UK when he launched a toy company inside one of Europe’s largest shopping malls. He raised £25k capital to be able to do this, signing contracts without even being the legal age to do so. Employed 40 staff, had 5 shops and made 7 figures by the age of 19. By 20 he was a partner in a nightclub.
Now owns businesses that include virualstaff.ph – the number 1 outsourcing platform for directing, hiring and finding virtual assistants and remote staff in the Philippines. He decided at 22 to become a virtual boss creating one of the fastest growing outsourcing companies in the world.
ABOUT HIS COMPANY:
What we do is unique: We cut out the middlemen! You as an entrepreneur or business owner can directly find and hire filipino virtual assistants who are often home-based in the Philippines using our site. virtualstaff.ph does not charge recruitment fee's, nor does it charge a salary markup, which means as a business owner you deal directly with your outsourced/virtual staff.
Philippines, is an English speaking country, it's the legal language for law, and also the language taught in schools. You can hire someone here, degree educated from $350-$400 a month. All my team is virtual.
People always ask me, "Mike, what's the main benefits of hiring a virtual assistant?", It's simple.
1- You can grow your business by hiring skilled staff with specialist skills, such as programmers, telemarketers, customer service, SEO, social media, content writers, general virtual assistants, video editors etc, and do it by saving as much as 82% on what domestic salaries in the west would be. This really gives startup's and cash strapped businesses the advantages to scale up big time.
2- Leverage time. Outsource the crap, get rid of admin and data entry. If you're doing those things and you hate doing them, or they are not the best use of your time. STOP! Life is to precious. Hire a filipino virtual assistant instead.
